ABOUT DANIELLE AUSTEN
Danielle Austen is an award-winning fine art photographer specializing in intimate portraits of the environment. Educated and trained in the fine arts and photojournalism at Cornell and Syracuse University, Danielle’s work has been published in local, regional, and national newspapers and magazines, including the New York Times, Outdoor Photographer, Black & White Magazine, and “Life’s, The Year in Pictures.”
Her artistic endeavors have led her to prestigious Artist-in-Residency programs across the United States, with six residencies hosted within the National Parks; Shenandoah National Park, Rocky Mountain NP, Great Smoky Mountains NP, twice at Acadia NP, Everglades NP and the seventh was a Full Fellowship recipient at the Vermont Studio Center. Her work has also been showcased in over four dozen national and international juried exhibitions and numerous group and solo exhibitions, notably at the Monmouth Museum.
Throughout her career she has won numerous awards both in her photojournalism and fine artwork, including the Julia M Cameron Awards, International Photography Awards, and the Black & White Spider Awards. In 2013, she was a national winner of Canon’s “Project Imaginat10n” photo competition with Director Ron Howard. Celebrity director Biz Stone, the co-founder of Twitter, chose her winning image to help inspire his short film, “Evermore,” which premiered in October 2013 in NYC.
As an educator Danielle offers classes, workshops, private consultations and presents on a variety of topics to photographic societies throughout the region.
