Lori Lankford

Instructor

I’m Lori Lankford—nature photographer, creative mentor, and relentless explorer of the unseen beauty in the everyday. For over 20 years, I’ve been chasing moments in nature—whether in my own English cutting garden at Main Street or tucked away in a national park.  10 years ago I dove into macro, flowers,  and garden photography with curiosity, experimentation, and an appetite for creative risk. I mastered techniques like intentional camera movement, multiple exposures, and layered editing—not just to craft images, but to build a visual language that surprises and connects.

Each morning, I’m in my garden—transforming what was once a field of dirt into a personal studio, where natural light and seasonal shifts inform my work. From that space, I teach photographers how to see differently: through workshops, online courses like A Year of Creative Photography, and 1:1 mentoring. I guide others in developing a style rooted in their vision, simplifying editing workflows, and defining business direction. I help you build not just skills—but a photographic identity.  My work's been featured in national exhibitions and publications, and used commercially—but the real joy comes in guiding others to break rules, find their spark, and create images that feel alive.

Lori, I continue to marvel at the impact you have had on my photography life.  Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I hope your garden is off to a great start this year. Again, following advice from one of your recent garden videos, I threw some Cosmos, Zinnia and sunflower seeds into my yard this week. I hope to grow some subjects for my summer photography.
